Role: Records Officer

Do you love archery and want to celebrate the achievements of our club members? Do you have the skills and experience to manage the club’s shooting records and organise club competitions and leagues? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the Club Records Officer position!

The Club Records Officer is a vital role in the club’s committee, responsible for maintaining and updating the club’s shooting records, submitting record claims to higher levels, issuing certificates, badges, and trophies to club members, publishing and displaying the club’s records and rankings, and running club events such as handicap shoots, frostbite, and postal leagues.

To be eligible for this role, you need to have good numeracy and data entry skills, experience in using spreadsheets and online databases, knowledge of archery scoring, classifications, handicaps, and awards, ability to use the Archery GB online record system, accuracy and attention to detail, enthusiasm and recognition for club members’ achievements, and good communication and organisation skills.

The Club Records Officer is appointed at the AGM by ratification by the Committee and Club, and the term of office is one year, renewable at the AGM.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Keep track of the shooting records of club members, including scores, classifications, handicaps, and awards
  • Submit record claims to the county, regional, and national level, where applicable
  • Issue certificates, badges, and trophies to club members who achieve new personal bests, classifications, or awards
  • Publish and display the club’s records and rankings on the club website, notice board, or newsletter
  • Organise and run club competitions and leagues, such as handicap shoots, frostbite, and postal leagues
  • Encourage and motivate club members to improve their performance and participate in club events
  • Liaise with the Club Secretary and other committee members on records-related matters
  • Follow the Archery GB rules and guidance on record keeping
