AGM Highlights – August 2023

In the August 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM), key decisions and updates were made.

Committee Roles Approved:

  • The AGM confirmed the appointment of new committee roles, with Alan ‘Dug’ Dunnighan as the Chairperson and Marc Lofthouse as the Secretary, among others.

Finances:

  • A report on the club’s financial stability revealed sufficient funds to cover both the current indoor season and the upcoming outdoor season.
  • Conversations revolved around the recent container purchase and the exploration of larger indoor venues for competitions.

Renewal Fees:

  • Membership fees for the forthcoming year remained unchanged, though adjustments to AGB fees were discussed.

Communications:

  • A new communication strategy was introduced, emphasizing consistency and utilising WhatsApp for social interactions.
  • Committee members will be added to email addresses, with consideration for a more centralised email system.

Coaching and Beginner Courses:

  • The coaching programme continued, with discussions regarding potential alterations to the number of beginner courses and mentorship opportunities for junior beginners.
  • The possibility of incorporating archery into school curricula was explored.

Container and Merchandise:

  • Updates on the container purchase and plans for a painting day were shared.
  • A proposal for club merchandise was approved, including an end-of-season BBQ/picnic.

Smoking Policy:

  • Members were encouraged to adopt a common-sense approach to smoking, with a focus on consideration for other members, particularly children.

Golden Records and Skills Matrix:

  • The club approved the purchase and implementation of Cloud Golden Records for improved score tracking.
  • Plans were introduced for the creation of a voluntary skills matrix to document available club resources.

These highlights demonstrate the dedication of the committee to its members, financial stability, enhanced communication, and growth prospects. The year ahead promises excitement for archers and enthusiasts in the British archery community.
